The front end

The grille, headlights, and front bumper make up most of the front fascia. On late-model trucks these often carry parking sensors, cameras, or radar for driver-assist systems, so the right replacement depends on which options your truck has. The hood and fenders are the large panels behind them; aluminum and steel versions are not interchangeable.

The cab

The cab is where the driver and passengers sit. Cab style — regular, extended (also called double or super cab), or crew — changes the length of doors, glass, floor mats, seat covers, and running boards. Side mirrors vary by power, heat, turn-signal, towing extension, and camera options.

The bed

The bed is the open cargo box. Its top edges are the bed rails, where tonneau covers and racks mount. The tailgate closes the rear; some trucks have multi-function or powered tailgates that limit cover choices. Bed length is the single most important number for covers, liners, and racks.

Under the truck

The hitch receiver is the square tube for ball mounts and carriers. Front suspension design differs between 2WD and 4WD versions of the same model, which matters for lift and leveling kits. Brakes and wheelsdepend on trim, payload rating, and sometimes production date.

Searching by part name

Once you know the name, add the configuration details that change it. "2018 Silverado 1500 crew cab running boards" will surface far better results than "truck steps." The finder builds that phrase for you and lists what else to check.
